Commencing February 2015, in Mumbai, India
This one year part-time program is offered by the Ummeed Child Development Center, Mumbai, in collaboration with Narrative Practices Adelaide and Reauthoring Teaching, Vermont.
Ummeed’s Mental Health Training Program addresses the need for trained professionals who can meet the Mental Health needs of children and families. It also provides an opportunity for organizations or schools to build capacity in this area.
This course provides a thorough grounding in the ideas and practices of narrative approaches to working with individuals, families, groups and communities. Narrative therapy seeks to be a respectful, non-blaming approach to counselling which centers people as the experts in their own lives. It views problems as separate from people and assumes people have many skills, beliefs, values, and abilities that will allow them to reduce the influence of problems in their lives.
Skills taught will include externalizing, reauthoring, remembering, and using outsider witnesses.
